Blessed with the long-running Coats for Kids program and partnerships with Sleep in Heavenly Peace and the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation, Manitoba State Deputy Mark Desjardins of the Knights of Columbus sought an opportunity to unite coats, beds and wheelchairs in a single humanitarian initiative.

As temperatures continue to drop, the Knights of Columbus’ Toronto Council 1388 is maximizing the reach of its Give a Kid a Coat this Christmas campaign through a newfound partnership with the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS).

“It is a good time to be a Knight of Columbus,” declared Arthur Peters, who joined the worldwide Catholic fraternal service order in 1986.

The "days of easy faith are over," and a "new generation of Catholic men" are needed in the church, said the head of the Knights of Columbus at the global Catholic fraternal organization's annual gathering.
